Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design™ in Riverside Terrace

R-TAB (Riverside Terrace Alliance for Beautification) is a 501(c)3 organization comprised of community stakeholders and passionate residents of our neighborhood. Our mission is driven by case studies that have recently been completed in Chicago, St.Petersburg, and Dallas, which show that an increase in lighting, landscaping, and public resources results in a dramatic decrease in violence and crime in the tested areas. These improvements are based on the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED.) The goal of the R-TAB is to adopt and implement the principles of CPTED in hopes that criminals will see our neighborhood as a place we raise our families. Our children are the future of our community, and by investing in the environmental design of our street corners and public resources throughout our community, we hope to deter drug activity and gun violence, make our streets safe for our children, and encourage community and civic pride.

Visible signs of crime, anti-social behavior, and civil disorder create an urban environment that encourages further crime... including serious crimes.
